Reflective heat transfer film refers to reflective DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfer film. It incorporates a reflective layer onto a PET transfer film, and then various patterns are screen printed onto it. When heat pressed onto fabric, the patterns exhibit reflective properties. Therefore, it is one of the most important components for reflective DTF printing.
Reflective DTF film and reflective heat transfer vinyl are both important applications of reflective heat transfer materials in safety clothing. However, they have many similarities and differences.
Similarities:
1. Both customized patterns have reflective properties, improving visibility in low-light environments.
2. Both customized patterns are suitable for application on cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, and other fabrics.
Differences:
1. The former involves printing the customized pattern onto reflective PET transfer films, then applying hot-melt powder or liquid hot-melt adhesive and curing it at high temperature, and finally applying it using a heat press. Reflective heat transfer vinyl, on the other hand, only requires cutting the customized pattern with a cutting machine, weeding, and then applying it directly with a heat press.
2. Different equipment is used. Heat transfer vinyl only requires a cutting machine and a heat press to apply the HTV logo, making it more suitable for DIY and home use. Reflective DTF film requires specialized screen printing equipment, an oven, weak solvent ink, and hot-melt adhesive to apply the heat transfer pattern, making it more suitable for DTF printing suppliers and DTF shops.
3. DTF reflective film can print patterns in multiple colors and can print finer text; while the color of reflective heat transfer vinyl is determined by the color of the reflective vinyl itself, and it is not suitable for very fine text.
4. Reflective DTF transfers have hot-melt adhesive marks on the edges of the pattern, while reflective heat transfer vinyl does not have this problem.
5. Reflective heat transfer vinyl can be customized with different retroreflective coefficients and washability according to customer requirements, which reflective heat transfer film cannot do.
6. Reflective DTF transfers do not require weeding, resulting in higher production efficiency.
7. For mass production of heat transfer logos, the cost of reflective DTF transfers is lower than that of reflective heat transfer vinyl.
