High-Intensity Prismatic (HIP) reflective tape utilizes non-metallized microprismatic technology featuring polycarbonate cube corners. It meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM D4956, Types III and IV.
Both High Intensity Prismatic (HIP) and Engineer Grade Prismatic (EGP) utilize non-metallic microprismatic technology. However, they differ in the following aspects:
1) Differences in Microprismatic Technology:
High Intensity Prismatic employs cube corner microprismatic technology, whereas Engineer Grade Prismatic utilizes microprismatic technology based on tiny, man-made lenses.
2) Differences in Compliance Standards:
HIP complies with the ASTM D4956-09 Type IV, Class 1, and RA2 standards; EGP complies with the ASTM D4956-09 Type I, Class 2, and RA1 standards.
3) Differences in Application:
High Intensity Prismatic is widely used for warning signs and permanent markings in harsh environments, while EGP is typically used for non-critical signage.
4) Differences in Pricing:
The cost of HIP reflective tape is somewhat higher than that of EGP reflective tape. Therefore, we typically select the appropriate grade of reflective tape based on the specific requirements of the intended application.
