Class 2 Reflective Tape is a retroreflective tape that complies with ASTM D4956 Type 1 and RA1 standards.
Initially, only glass-bead versions existed; however, the application of microprismatic technology led to the development of engineering-grade microprismatic reflective tape. Since the retroreflection coefficient of engineering-grade microprismatic tape exceeds that of super engineer grade materials, it has widely replaced glass-bead Class 2 reflective tapes.
The minimum retroreflection coefficients for Class 2 reflective tape are as follows:
Observation Angle: +0.2 degrees / Entrance Angle: -4 degrees
White – 70 cd/lx/m2
Yellow – 50 cd/lx/m2
Orange – 25 cd/lx/m2
Green – 9 cd/lx/m2
Red – 14 cd/lx/m2
